Thursday morning 8.30am. Eleanor woke choked with a horrid cold and packing was a challenge but we set off with a fully laden car to drive to Port Ellen to catch the ferry to the mainland. Eleanor had written to Calmac asking if they would like to sponsor us - which they did in the form of free ferry tickets - so a big thank you to Calmac. A hearty breakfast of paracetemol, tattie scones and beans seemed to do the trick for El and she soon felt cheerier.

Day 1. Islay to the mainland.
